Reesha holds a Diploma in Law from Villa College and is currently in her 2nd year of LLB at the University of London, UK. Although a fairly new face, she has been passionate about social issues, especially related to migrant workers and their rights.

She has previously worked at Shah, Hussain & Co. as a legal assistant, where she took her first steps into the legal sector, gaining invaluable experience working on banking and financial matters, as well as the hospitality and tourism sector. She has also had experience working in marketing and public relations during her time at Maldives Getaways. She worked closely with national & international bodies, and helped deliver successful events catering to both markets.

Her experience as a marketing professional in the business sector instilled in her the skills required to reach out to people and convey messages across different platforms, which are essential in her role as Secretary General of MMWM.

Reesha is currently 1 of 40 participants selected for the ‘United Creatives’ – a programme led by UNDP and the EU’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) with support from Facebook, aimed towards promoting peace through digital action in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

We need to promote the inclusion of migrant workers, especially women migrant workers, who are often neglected in policy and research, in order to create a fairer society.
